NYSC DG Advises Corps Members on Prudence, Discipline

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has urged 2025 Batch ‘C’ corps members in Edo State to practise prudent spending, avoid flamboyant lifestyles, and live within their means.

Speaking at the Orientation Camp in Okada, Nafiu emphasised financial responsibility alongside security awareness, stressing that corps members should avoid activities that could put them at risk. He also encouraged them to embrace the NYSC’s core values of loyalty, discipline, and hard work, and to foster friendships across cultural divides.

“Let me remind you to demonstrate loyalty, commitment, discipline, and hard work at all times, and build bonds across the different cultural divides,” he said.

The NYSC Edo State Coordinator, Mrs Ben-Ushie Frances, reported that 1,634 corps members were registered in the new batch. She described them as resourceful and diligent, noting their active participation in Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training and other camp activities.

She added that strong coordination among camp officials is ensuring the smooth implementation of the orientation programme, setting a foundation for a successful national service year.
