Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has announced the election of Professor Adetokunbo Oluwole Ilesanmi as the new Provost of the Postgraduate College. Prof. Ilesanmi, a respected scholar from the Department of Architecture, will now lead the college as it continues to improve the quality of postgraduate education at the university.
The announcement marks a new chapter for the college, as Professor Ilesanmi takes over from the outgoing Provost, Professor Victor Olaleye. In his farewell message, Prof. Olaleye praised the new Provost’s hard work and leadership qualities. While congratulating him, the outgoing Provost, Professor Victor Olaleye, said, “Your hard work and talent have always shown. Now that you have been chosen, I wish you a smooth and successful time in office.” He also said he fully believes in Prof. Ilesanmi’s ability to take the college to greater heights. People at the university view his appointment not just as a change in leadership but also as a reward for his dedication and academic excellence.
Prof. Ilesanmi is expected to continue the good work of the former leader by introducing fresh ideas, enhancing research work, and providing postgraduate students with better support and guidance. Both students and staff have said they are confident that the college will grow stronger and be more recognised both in Nigeria and internationally under his leadership. His appointment also shows OAU’s strong focus on quality education and training future leaders through advanced learning and research. With Prof. Ilesanmi in charge, the university is expecting bigger achievements and better academic programmes for its postgraduate students.
