The Senate of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has recommended Professor Ahmad Muhammad Tsauni, Director of the Bayero University Press, for appointment as the institution’s next Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics).
The decision was taken during the university’s 428th Senate meeting held on Thursday, October 2 2025. The recommendation will be forwarded to the University Governing Council for consideration and final approval at its next sitting.
The position became vacant following the appointment of Professor Haruna Musa as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the university.
At the same meeting, the Senate also elected Professor Ummu A. Jalingo as its representative on the University Governing Council.
Professor Tsauni, a respected economist and academic leader, earned his PhD in Economics from Bayero University. He began his career as a Graduate Assistant in 2004 and rose to the rank of professor in 2019.
He has served in several key administrative roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Head of the Department of Economics, and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
As Director of Bayero University Press, he has overseen research publications and academic collaborations, reinforcing his reputation as a scholar dedicated to academic excellence and institutional development.
