Jigawa SUBEB Shortlists 274 for Education Secretary Positions

The Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) says it has shortlisted 274 candidates out of 1,156 applicants for the positions of Education Secretary across the state’s 27 local government areas.

Chairman of the Board, Professor Haruna Musa, confirmed the development on Friday, noting that the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the recruitment exercise will be conducted at the Federal University, Dutse.

He said the online recruitment portal attracted applications from all 27 local government areas, adding that the selection process aims to ensure only qualified and competent individuals are appointed to lead local education authorities.

Professor Musa explained that the exercise forms part of ongoing reforms to strengthen basic education management and improve learning outcomes across the state.

He had earlier criticised some education secretaries for negligence, blaming them for issues such as teacher absenteeism and declining performance in public schools.
