The Director of the Centre for Research, Development and In-House Training (CREDIT) at the University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulkarim Oloyede, has been inducted as a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), marking a career milestone for the telecommunications scholar.Prof. Oloyede, a specialist in Wireless and Internet Governance with nearly 20 years of combined academic and industry experience, also lectures in the Department of Telecommunications. His rising national profile was further reinforced in October when he was appointed Secretary-General of the Nigerian Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence Building Systems (NigeriaLics).Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, conveyed the institution’s commendation. In a statement issued by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice-Chancellor described the fellowship as a well-deserved recognition of Prof. Oloyede’s impact across telecommunications, engineering practice, and academia.Prof. Oloyede’s footprint in the global telecom space also includes his appointment by the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) as a Consultant to the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in 2021.
