OSGOF Holds 2025 Promotion Examinations for Junior Officers

The Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGOF) recently conducted the 2025 promotion examination for junior officers at salary grade level 05 and below. These examinations, organised in collaboration with the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) and other agencies like the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), and the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), are designed to test the knowledge, skills, and abilities of civil servants to qualify for promotion to higher grades.

Surveyor General Abudulganiyu Adeyemi Adebomehin praised the cooperation of various government bodies, stating that the examinations are held every two to four years, depending on the grade level. He expressed gratitude to the Head of Service, the Civil Service Commission, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, and others for providing the environment that made the examinations possible.

Mr Oseni Abiodun, Acting Director of Human Resources at OSGOF, explained that the examination covered a wide range of staff, including technical officers, surveyors, drivers, and other civil servants. Candidates answered both general questions on civil service rules, which were compulsory for all, as well as specialised questions relevant to their roles. Various committees prepared the examination questions with support from personnel in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the Head of Service, and the FCSC.

Abiodun encouraged civil servants not to wait for promotion examinations to study but to familiarise themselves regularly with the public service rules and guidelines.

One candidate, Mr Chidawa Awwal from the General Service and Maintenance Unit, thanked the Surveyor General for creating the enabling environment and noted that the examination questions were fair and within the expectations of civil servants.
