Precious Cornerstone University (PCU), Ibadan, has commenced formal steps to establish postgraduate programmes in five disciplines, following a resource verification visit by teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The NUC teams assessed the university’s readiness to offer master ‘s-level programmes in Business Administration, Computer Science, Accounting, Microbiology, and Biochemistry. The verification exercise took place in two phases between May 5 and May 8, 2025, with expert panels from NUC and academic consultants inspecting facilities, academic staffing, and curriculum structure.
The Vice-Chancellor of PCU, Professor Timothy Olubisi Adejumo, said the move represents a critical step in the university’s academic development and its long-term goal of becoming a centre of excellence in research and advanced learning.
The postgraduate programmes are to be hosted at the university’s annex located at Olubadan Estate, Ibadan, which is distinct from the main undergraduate campus at Oloagun.
Leaders of the NUC teams, including Professors Vincent Ezeabasili and L.N. Edosomwan, commended the institution’s learning environment and management preparedness, noting PCU’s focus on academic quality and values-based education.
The outcome of the verification exercise is expected to determine the NUC’s approval for the proposed postgraduate programmes.
