Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has appointed Prof Abdullahi Abubakar as the Acting General Manager of the university’s Estate Management Company. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, approved the appointment to help improve the management of ABU’s properties.
Prof. Abubakar, currently the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Design and a former Head of the Architecture Department, will now oversee ABU’s houses, lands, and other buildings within and outside the campuses. He is expected to audit all ABU properties across cities such as Zaria, Lagos, Abuja, and Kano, and ensure that all land documents are up to date. He will also create training opportunities for students through internships and part-time jobs in estate maintenance. The appointment is for six months, commencing immediately. The Vice-Chancellor believes that this change will bring improved services and greater accountability to the estate company.
