Professor Baba El-Yakubu will deliver his final lecture as the outgoing PTDF Professorial Chair in Chemical Engineering at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, tomorrow, Thursday, July 3, 2025. The seminar will be held at 11:00 am at the ACENPEE Building, Engineering Phase III, ABU. Prof El-Yakubu will speak on the topic: “Refinery Fluid Catalytic Cracking Zeolite-Based Catalyst: Its Deactivation and Passivation.” This marks the end of his tenure as PTDF Chair, a position focused on advancing research in oil refining technology.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, will open the event, while the PTDF Executive Secretary, Ahmed Galadima Aminu, will be the Special Guest of Honour. Prof. Abdulazeez Yusuf Atta, the new PTDF Chair, stated that the goal is to produce zeolite catalysts locally, thereby helping Nigeria save money and supporting local refineries, such as the Dangote Refinery. He will give the closing remarks at the event.
