Professor Hauwa’u Evelyn Yusufu has emerged as the first female professor in the history of Kaduna State University (KASU).
She also serves as the Special Advisor to the Vice Chancellor on Research Culture. Her record shows her to be the first professor from whose department Doctorate Degree Students will graduate. Yusufu graduated with six PhD students from the university’s Department of Sociology.
In addition to her role in the academic space, Yusufu is the Founder of Evadex Organic Farms and the founder and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Centre for the Study and Resolution of Domestic Violence (CERSDOV). She is the National President of the Nigerian Anthropological and Sociological Practitioners Association and the National Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Society for Criminology.
Commenting on how she balances her home life with lectures and other obligations, she credited the support of her husband, children, and siblings. “Yes, I do many things, but I make a conscious effort not to allow my primary assignment as a teacher to suffer. So, whenever I have to organise or participate in programmes, I make sure they are scheduled strategically so that they do not interfere with my teaching responsibilities, the very role for which I am being paid”, she stated.
