Public universities are maximising their potential in tech education and slowly competing with private institutions. This motive was triggered by the rapid growth in student demand as well as the increasing importance of data science and cybersecurity management. Government institutions have now taken on the responsibility of upgrading their facilities, updating course content, and establishing connections with the industry.
These institutions aim to achieve their tech goals by offering accredited certification programmes, expanding scholarship schemes, and establishing innovation centres. Aside from opening innovation centres and offering certification programmes, public universities are ensuring to shape their curriculum based on industry feedback, introduce faculty upskilling, create targeted scholarships, and partner with foreign institutions.
Industries are now utilising technology for growth and sustainability. The high competition in the market is now being determined by tech-driven market value. The motive for introducing such development is to ensure that the students can adapt to this ever-changing world.
Nowadays, students have started obtaining scholarships. Additionally, the government is now funding and establishing modern institutions, particularly in areas with a high number of out-of-school Nigerians. This has now posed a challenge to private universities. All in all, it is a win-win for Nigeria as a whole.
