The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Engr. Dr Temitope John Alake has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, institutional transparency, and performance-based recognition during a recent Congregation meeting held on campus. Addressing members of the academic and non-teaching graduate staff at the meeting, Dr Alake commended employees for their dedication to duty and the peaceful environment that continues to prevail within the institution. “This campus has continued to witness peace and tranquillity despite its many challenges,” the Rector said, noting that such a climate is essential for institutional progress.
Dr Alake announced that his administration had cleared the final tranche of over ₦1.2 billion in inherited debt through prudent financial management and cost-control measures. He added that departments would soon receive funds for consumables and urged heads of units to ensure that the allocations are used strictly for their intended purposes. On staff welfare, he said the Governing Council had reiterated its support for improving conditions of service and that no staff member would be denied their legitimate entitlements. “Whatever is due anyone will be given,” he said.
The Rector also highlighted the introduction of a reward system for both staff and students who bring honour to the institution. According to him, some staff members have secured patents for their innovations, while students have won the All Polytechnic Games for three consecutive years. He encouraged staff to continue to positively impact the lives of students, adding that excellence and commitment would be duly recognised. Several staff members who spoke during the meeting commended the Rector and his management team for prioritising the welfare of the Polytechnic community and called for sustained reforms. The Congregation, chaired by the Rector, serves as a forum for the institution’s graduate staff to discuss key issues and provide input on institutional direction.
