The Rector of Ed-John Institute of Management and Technology, Ikorodu, Lagos, Rev. Emmanuel Kayode, has noted the importance of sustainable development, stressing that present human activities must not compromise future growth.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony of the institution’s first set of Higher National Diploma students, Kayode delivered a lecture titled “Sustainable Development for Global Relevance.” He explained that sustainable development rests on three pillars: economic progress through wealth creation and innovation, social equity through fairness and inclusiveness, and environmental protection through safeguarding natural resources.

“The world today is facing challenges from climate change and unemployment to poverty, insecurity, and even the misuse of technology. Nations are not judged by their wealth alone, but by how they can create a future that works for both today and tomorrow,” he said.

Kayode urged the students to embrace discipline, hard work, integrity, and creativity as guiding principles throughout their academic journey.
