The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Mrs Edumma Enobong Essien, has pledged to transform the institution into a hub for innovation and practical learning that transcends paper qualifications.
She pledged on Monday during the inauguration of the Convocation Committee for the school’s maiden convocation, held in her office.
Essien emphasised that her administration aims to reposition the polytechnic among Nigeria’s leading centres of technical education through hands-on teaching and industry-driven learning.
“This Polytechnic was founded to bridge the skills gap in Nigeria’s manpower landscape. Technical education must transcend paper qualifications and dwell in the fertile fields of invention, innovation, and industry,” she said.
The Rector highlighted the role of the school’s Entrepreneurial and Skills Acquisition Centres in producing graduates capable of creating jobs rather than seeking them.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Convocation Planning Committee, Mr Jude Inyangetoh, appreciated the management for its confidence in the committee and promised a successful and memorable convocation event.
