The Rotary Club of Ikeja Golden Impact has recognised outstanding pupils at Agidingbi Senior Grammar School for their performance in a recent essay competition.
Twelve students competed, with six reaching the final stage. Ogbaji Josephine, a Senior Secondary School 3 student, won first place with 87.5 per cent, followed by Odianosen Testimony on 85 per cent, and Ndubuisi Ruth in third with 79.17 per cent.
Josephine received a Samsung Galaxy Tab, a scientific calculator, a bag, a plaque, and a dictionary. Testimony was awarded a scientific calculator, a plaque, a bag, a watch, and a dictionary, while Ruth collected a headset, a calculator, a bag, and a dictionary.
Speaking at the event, Charter President Teniola Ogundeji said the competition marked Rotary’s September focus on Basic Education and Literacy. She described the initiative as a way to encourage creativity, literacy, and leadership among young people, adding that “when a child learns to read, write, and express themselves, they gain the power to dream and the courage to shape their future.”
Keynote speaker Kayode Oladipo urged pupils to be confident and always strive for excellence in all endeavours.
