Participants at the 4th International Conference of the Association of Management and Social Sciences Researchers of Nigerian (AMSSRN)

Dr Gideon Ezu has called on governments at all levels and tertiary institution managers to prioritise research funding as a key driver of national development.

Speaking at the 4th International Conference of the Association of Management and Social Sciences Researchers of Nigeria (AMSSRN) held at Imo State University, Ezu stressed that research sponsorship should be a core government mandate since universities are vital hubs for innovation and progress.

Ezu, who is Deputy Director at Nnamdi Azikiwe Business School, Awka, also urged academics to embrace digital technologies to boost research outputs. He explained that tools such as artificial intelligence, robotics, cloud computing, blockchain, and 3D printing have become critical in advancing modern scholarship.

Delivering his lecture on “Issues Involved in Application of Digital Technology in Research: Nigeria Experience Strategies,” he emphasised that heavy investment in technology is necessary to strengthen research capacity and position Nigeria for sustainable development. He charged both the government and researchers to collaborate in fostering innovation.
