The Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has partnered with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Kano Field Office to tackle the increasing learning crisis in Katsina’s education sector.
The partnership aims to gather and train stakeholders to develop solutions to improve education quality and access. Similarly, the collaboration will enhance children’s numeracy and literacy skills.
Danjuma Yusuf, the facilitators’ team lead, when speaking at the stakeholder training, said the programme will improve inclusive education and make teaching practice student-focused in schools.
The team lead added that adopting UNICEF’s school-based teacher professional development, which involves training experts, stakeholders, and teachers together, helps “pupils’ critical thinking, problem-solving skills, fosters creativity/innovation, promotes deeper understanding through active engagement, builds confidence/independence, and also lifelong learning habits.”
