Dr. Ali Makoda, Kano State Commissioner of Education, has ordered a thorough investigation of the death of two boys from the Government Boarding Secondary School.
The boys, Hamza Tofawa and Umar Dunguruwa, were harmed by senior colleagues with a local metal object known as “Gwale-Gwale.” Bashir Muhammed, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, read a statement on Makoda’s behalf, stating that the commission would investigate the incident and ensure the victims’ families get justice. Abbas Abdullahi, Director of the Secondary School Management Board in Kano, sympathised with the families of the deceased and emphasised that students must refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
