Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has vowed to offer optimal transformation for basic education in Nigeria.
Describing his experience, he said, “When I was Governor of Nasarawa State, I supported the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). While in the Senate, I was a member of the UBEC committee, so I am a stakeholder in universal and quality education at different levels.”
Al-Makura promised to leverage this experience and background as an advocate for universal and quality education to stabilise the education sector. He appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing him to his role and Hajiya Aisha Garba as the Executive Secretary of the commission.
