The University of Ibadan (UI) has announced plans to revive the Morohundiya Foundation for Legal Education and its lecture series as part of efforts to honour one of its benefactors.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Kayode Adebowale made the pledge during a condolence visit to the Morohundiya family in Lagos following the death of Chief Christiana Morohundiya.
He recalled that the late Chief Samuel Olasupo Morohundiya had donated land along the Ibadan-Oyo Expressway which now houses the university’s Distance Learning Centre. He said the facility would be put to greater use in advancing legal education in Nigeria.
Chief Yetunde Ashabi Morohundiya, head of the family, described the visit as historic and expressed hope that the partnership with UI would be deepened. Other family members and associates welcomed the commitment, urging the university to ensure the late patriarch’s vision for education was sustained.
