UNILAG Alumni Hail Federal Government on Education Reforms

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Alumni Association has praised the Federal Government for recent reforms in the education sector.

Speaking at a press briefing ahead of the association’s 55th anniversary and award night, President Ifeoluwa Oyedele commended the creation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said allows students to continue their studies without disruption. He also lauded the approval of full scholarships for students in technical education at all levels.

Oyedele further acknowledged the government’s efforts towards resolving disputes with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

He expressed concern over poor lecturer salaries, which he said fuel brain drain and make it difficult for professors to afford quality education for their own children. He stressed that improving welfare for academic staff remains key to restoring dignity and stability in Nigeria’s universities.
