The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has recently celebrated the Nigerian culture with a powerful stage play focused on the life and time of Moremi Ajasoro, a Yoruba heroine who lived many years ago and was known for her bravery. The event took place on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Terra Kulture Arena in Lagos, as part of the third edition of “UNILAG in Town.”
The play told the story of how Moremi helped save her people in Ile-Ife from mysterious enemies by offering herself as a spy, and later paid the price by sacrificing her only son. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, stated that the show teaches values such as courage, leadership, and patriotism. She added that “UNILAG in Town” is not just for fun but to promote African culture and student talent. The event also featured an art exhibition and received support from donors such as Alpha Morgan Bank and Havilah Group. It was the third annual cultural event.
