The UNILAG lecturer was arraigned for allegedly sexually assaulting a 20-year-old student.

A Lagos magistrate court in Ogba has granted bail to Dr Samuel Obinna Ojogbo, a senior lecturer in the Department of Finance, University of Lagos (UNILAG), who was arraigned for allegedly sexually assaulting a 20-year-old student.

The 300-level student, Miss Owonifari Fiyinfoluwa, reported to the police that on August 22, 2025, she was invited into the lecturer’s office, where he allegedly forced himself on her. She later received medical treatment at a hospital.

According to an affidavit by the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command, the case was transferred from Bariga Police Station and falls under Sections 260 and 263(1) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, which cover rape and sexual assault. The police also recommended that the case file be sent to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice. The court granted Ojogbo bail, pending further review of the case by the relevant authorities.
