UNILAG Names Keynote Speakers for 2025 International Week

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced the keynote speakers for the fifth edition of its International Week, scheduled for 13–17 October 2025.

Those expected to lead discussions include Prof Steve West, Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West of England; Yvonne Ike, Managing Director and Head of Sub-Saharan Africa at Bank of America; Emmanuel Lubanzadio, Africa Lead at OpenAI; and Prof Diana Mitlin of the African Cities Research Consortium, University of Manchester.

This year’s event will be held under the theme Equitable Partnerships and the Future of AI in Africa. The university said the focus highlights its drive to promote fair global collaboration while exploring artificial intelligence’s potential role in Africa’s development.

UNILAG described International Week as its flagship platform for dialogue, networking and engagement between academic institutions, industry partners, policymakers and the wider public. The programme will feature keynote lectures, panel discussions, cultural showcases, exhibitions and interactive workshops.

The university added that the series of events is designed to strengthen academic and industry ties and to advance conversations on technology, equity and Africa’s future in global partnerships.
