Participants in the Executive Master and Doctor of Urban Logistics and Transport Management programmes at the University of Lagos Business School (ULBS) have completed a study trip to the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base (LADOL) and the Lekki Free Zone.
The visit, led by Programme Coordinator Dr Olayinka Agunloye, aimed to bridge theory and practice by exposing students to real-world logistics operations. The group began at LADOL Jetty in Ikoyi, where they received safety briefings before being ferried to the offshore base.
At LADOL, participants toured warehouses and examined infrastructure, including warehouse management software, First-In-First-Out (FIFO) operations and cold chain facilities for handling temperature-sensitive items. Officials highlighted the company’s 12-year record of zero casualties, which is attributed to its strict safety protocols.
The students also observed processes in transportation, warehousing, order management and information systems, gaining insight into how integrated logistics supports supply chains in specialised sectors.
The trip concluded at the Lekki Free Zone, where participants engaged with modern logistics practices designed to support large-scale trade and industrial activity.
ULBS said the exercise reinforced classroom learning and equipped students with practical skills for careers in transport and logistics management.
