The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has revealed its intention to award certificates to its graduating students in entrepreneurial studies.
Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, the vice chancellor, represented by Prof. Muyiwa Falaye, the deputy vice chancellor (Management Services), mentioned this at the Entrepreneurial Hangout (1.0) themed ‘Fostering an Entrepreneurial Mindset in the University Ecosystem.’
According to her, equipping students with entrepreneurial knowledge will provide them with employable skills and help them create opportunities for others.
Additionally, Prof. Olufemi Olayemi, the convener and lead speaker, emphasised that promoting entrepreneurship in universities necessitates mentorship, a supportive institutional culture, and intentional education.
He stated, “Entrepreneurship education encourages experiential learning through simulations, case studies, start-up projects, and interdisciplinary collaboration.”
Olayemi emphasised that exposing students to entrepreneurship early on will equip them with the creativity and resilience necessary to boost today’s economy.
