UNILAG Trio Advances to Finals of Nigerian Genius: Campus Edition 2025

Three outstanding students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have qualified for the finals of The Nigerian Genius: Campus Edition 2025, one of Nigeria’s premier engineering competitions.

The team—Sanyaolu Motunrayo and Isokpunwu Orobosa from the Department of Electrical Electronics Engineering, along with Abanum Oliseyenum from the Department of Mechanical Engineering—earned the right to represent UNILAG after impressing judges with a compelling video presentation.

Their submission highlighted their expertise in Embedded Systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), demonstrating their readiness to tackle practical engineering challenges.

The Nigerian Genius: Campus Edition is a national contest showcasing Nigeria’s brightest engineering talents, organised by the Clinton Innovation Centre. The 2025 finals will be held over a week at the Advanced Engineering Centre (AEC) in Aba, Abia State.

Contestants will collaborate to solve real-world engineering problems, utilising skills such as CAD, CAM, Embedded Systems, PCB Design, Welding, and Fabrication. The competition also strongly encourages female participation, promoting diversity in the field of engineering.

The UNILAG team’s selection among a handful of finalists nationwide underscores their brilliance and the university’s rising prominence in engineering education and innovation.

Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, congratulated the trio on behalf of the entire university community, wishing them success as they prepare for the finals.
