UNIPORT Don Inducted Into Nigerian Academy of Medicine

Prof Victor Datonye Dapper of the University of Port Harcourt will, on September 9, 2025, be inducted as a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine (NAMed), joining a body of professionals in shaping the future of medical practice and policy in the country.

Dapper, a Professor of Human Physiology and one of the longest-serving medical scholars from the Niger Delta, becomes one of only a handful of Rivers State indigenes to attain the honour.  He follows in the footsteps of the late Prof. Nimi Briggs, a pioneering member of the Academy and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt. Other Rivers-born medical professors already in the Academy include Opubo da Lilly-Tariah, Chris Akani, and Iyeopu Siminialayi.

Nationally, Dapper will sit alongside prominent scholars such as Isaac Adewole, John Idoko, Jude Ohaeri, and Sonny Jeboda.

He will also be inducted as a new Fellow, along with Bolanle Adeniyi, Adesoji Adesina, Joseph Ikechebelu, Oliver Ezechi, and Kehinde Oluwadiya.
