Western Delta University (WDU), Oghara, graduates its first batch of ten doctoral students
Western Delta University (WDU), Oghara, Delta State, has graduated its first batch of ten doctoral students, alongside first-degree and master’s graduates. The convocation ceremony also honoured Ex-Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd) and 2023 SDP presidential candidate Prince Adewole Adebayo with honorary doctorates.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Augustine Ovuoronye Ikelegbe congratulated the graduands, emphasising the university’s commitment to rigorous academic standards and affordability. He highlighted that all programmes are accredited by the National Universities Commission and relevant professional councils.
Ikelegbe further noted that scholarships from the Otemu Education Foundation, the NDDC, and the Presidential Amnesty Programme support students, with additional awards expected from the Prince Adewoye Adebayo Foundation.
Chancellor Dr Donald Duke urged graduates to continue advancing their knowledge to contribute meaningfully to national and global development, reinforcing WDU’s mission of combining academic excellence with social impact.
