Wema Bank has honoured exceptional educators through its 2025 Wema at 80 Teachers Day Campaign, awarding over N4.5 million in prizes to five outstanding teachers for their impact on education across Nigeria.
At the award ceremony in Lagos, the bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Moruf Oseni, described teachers as “the unsung heroes behind every great achievement,” reaffirming the bank’s commitment to supporting education as part of its legacy of community empowerment.
The top winners were Abraham Ngobiri, founder of Teens-Train, who received N2 million; Mrs Esther Babasola Adesada, founder of Heritage X Foundation, who got N1.5 million; and Ms Taiwo Alabi, founder of Educycle, who earned N1 million.
Ngobiri expressed gratitude to Wema Bank, noting that the recognition would further inspire him to mentor young people. Adesada described the award as “a huge motivation” during a period of self-doubt, adding that the gesture reinforced her resolve to keep shaping lives through education.
The campaign, themed “Celebrating Teachers with a Legacy of Impact,” marked another milestone in Wema Bank’s 80-year journey of advancing learning and societal development.
