The Yobe State Government has unveiled plans to launch the Journalism Community Continuing Education (JCCE) Programme, designed to help working journalists enhance their skills and deliver higher-quality news.
Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, announced the initiative during a workshop for members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). He said the programme will admit interested media practitioners and provide them with opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and capacity.
The JCCE will be implemented in partnership with organisations such as the MacArthur Foundation and the World Bank. Ahead of its rollout, the Ministry is holding consultations with NUJ chapels, media executives, and other stakeholders across the state.
According to Bego, the training is aimed at helping journalists in Yobe meet international standards while promoting a more informed and engaged citizenry. The training programme is also seen as part of the government’s broader commitment to strengthening democracy through credible information.
