Nathan Paul Spencer, a 12-year-old student, drowned in a flood along Uselu-Ugbowo Road, Benin, while going to sit for the Middle Basic Assessment Examinations on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
The incident occurred when the boy, a student of Future Leaders Academy in Ovia North-East Local Government Area, was en route to Liberty Secondary School, Uselu, Egor Local Government Area, his examination centre. In a viral video, a man was seen carrying the deceased on his shoulder, with passersby making comments. While some urged him to take the boy to the hospital, others blamed the parents for allowing him to go to the examination centre alone.
