Equity Learning Academy (ELA) has opened in Ewatto, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, as Nigeria’s first tuition-free digital academy aimed at transforming education for disadvantaged children.
Powered by GradeX school management technology, the academy automates attendance, lesson delivery, assessments, and meal distribution. Parents also receive daily digital updates on their children’s progress.
Founder, Dr Friday Airhia, and co-founder Prof Bosede Airhia, said the initiative provides a digital ecosystem comparable to leading private schools. Each child from Kindergarten 1 to Basic 1 receives a free laptop with AI-powered, personalised lessons.
The launch was presided over by the Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu.
