Ebunoluwa Seth Oluwatimilehin, a 13-year-old student of Igando Community Senior High School, Igando, Lagos, has won the 15th UBA Foundation National Essay Competition.
This feat has made the teenager the youngest and first male winner in the history of organising the essay competition.
The SS2 student won a ₦10 million grant to pursue his tertiary education at his preferred African higher institution.
Oliver Alawuba, UBA’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, appreciated the foundation, noting that the competition is meant to awaken the reading and writing culture among youth.
The managing director highlighted that UBA does not judge participants based on their ethnicity or culture. “We see diversity as a strength. In fact, if you get diversity right in Africa, you have gotten the whole world right.”
