Over 4,000 law graduates of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) have petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi SAN, over their exclusion from the 2025/2026 Nigerian Law School Bar Part II admission.
The petition, signed by NOUN Law Graduates’ Association President, Mr. Adefowora Adedeji, and Secretary-General, Mr. Samuel Udofia, described the exclusion as discriminatory. They said more than 4,150 qualified graduates were denied the right to apply for the vocational training despite being legally recognised under the National Open University of Nigeria (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The graduates are calling on the federal government to step in and ensure urgent intervention to allow them access to the programme. They insist that the denial undermines their professional prospects. The matter has again drawn attention to the apparent gaps in policy implementation, raising concerns about fairness and equal opportunity for all law graduates in Nigeria.
