AAUA Offers Automatic Jobs to 32 First-Class Graduates

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, has announced automatic employment for 32 outstanding first-class graduates, as part of efforts to curb the brain drain in Nigeria’s academic sector.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olugbenga Ige disclosed this during a news briefing unveiling activities for the university’s 14th convocation.

The beneficiaries will be offered appointments as Graduate Fellows or Graduate Assistants if they choose to return after completing their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. Ige highlighted the disparity between local and international remuneration, noting that a PhD holder in Nigeria earns about N250,000 per month, compared with at least N5 million abroad.

He said the 5,799 graduating students had been equipped with academic and entrepreneurial skills for national and global development. However, he lamented the inadequate funding for AAUA, which fuels staff agitation and exacerbates staff turnover.

Of the graduates, 5,251 are undergraduates, 526 postgraduates, and 22 diploma recipients. Among them, 32 earned First Class, 1,444 Second Class Upper, 3,177 Second Class Lower, 582 Third Class, and 16 Pass. The initiative is part of AAUA’s commitment to strengthening local universities and retaining top talent.
