ABU’s Institute of Education in Zaria organised a free capacity-building workshop for secondary school principals
Ahmadu Bello University’s Institute of Education in Zaria has organised a free capacity-building workshop for secondary school principals from Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas. The training aimed to enhance school management and productivity.
The one-day workshop, held at the Institute’s conference room, brought together 14 principals from both public and private schools. It was titled “Enhancing Principal Management Skills for Productivity” and focused on practical strategies to strengthen school leadership.
Director of the Institute, Professor A.M. Jumare, said the initiative aligns with the Institute’s mandate to provide training and community service that improve local education standards. He emphasised the need for principals to develop strong managerial skills to boost school performance.
Sessions covered three key areas: conflict resolution, effective record-keeping, and internal school supervision. Professor Jumare led a lecture on conflict management, Professor Aminu Sambo on school management records, and Dr Usman Mohammed on internal supervision.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants. Professor Jumare urged principals to maintain an ongoing partnership with the University and to seek professional support from the Institute when addressing challenges in their schools, reinforcing the role of continuous professional development in improving educational outcomes.
