The Vice-Chancellor of Achievers University, Owo, Prof. Omolola Irinoye, has called on the entire community to collaborate in improving security in Owo and its surroundings. She made this appeal during the first Owo Community Security Summit, held at the university on Monday, May 26, 2025. The summit, themed “Securing Owo and Its Environs”, brought together government officials, traditional rulers, security agencies, academics, and civil society groups to find solutions to growing insecurity in the area.
Prof. Irinoye stated that insecurity affects education, business, and daily life, emphasising that safety is not just the government’s responsibility but also everyone’s. She praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s efforts and promised the university’s full support in peacebuilding and civic responsibility. The event featured top guests like the Olowo of Owo, security chiefs, and other dignitaries. It was chaired by retired Justice Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi.
