Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has maintained that his administration is committed to improving the quality of education across the state.
Speaking in Osogbo on Thursday, Adeleke unveiled instructional materials for public primary and junior secondary schools, alongside one Sienna vehicle, six mini buses, and 31 motorcycles for school monitoring.
The unveiling, held ahead of the new academic session starting Monday, September 22, also featured the distribution of 30 sets of 300-watt solar panels, 110 mathematics teaching kits, 100 interactive electronic boards, 215,000 exercise books, and 125 computer systems.
Other items included 8,000 cartons of chalk, 49,140 English test books, 100,000 higher education notebooks, 5,000 Jolly Phonics pupils’ books, and 7,500 school diaries.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, Adeleke stressed that education remains a priority. “Since assuming office, we have consistently invested in raising the quality of learning in our schools. With your support, we have made significant progress,” he said.
He added that his administration had paid outstanding counterpart funds to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) between 2019 and 2024, refurbished more than 400 classrooms in 139 schools, and supplied over 12,500 sets of furniture.
Adeleke further noted that the 2024 UBEC/SUBEB Action Plan, already under implementation, would deliver 333 classrooms, boreholes, toilets, perimeter fencing, ICT facilities, monitoring vehicles, motorbikes, and additional furniture for teachers and students.
