Businessman and philanthropist Dr Deji Adeleke has donated ₦100 million to support education development in Ogbomosoland, Oyo State.
The announcement was made at the inaugural Ogbomoso Education Summit, where Adeleke, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Adeleke University, Professor Luke Onuoha, said his contribution was inspired by the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye’s commitment to advancing education in the city.
Adeleke, a childhood friend of the monarch, said he shared the vision of “literacy for all”, which also motivated him to establish Adeleke University in Ede, Osun State.
Oba Olaoye described education as the “bedrock of civilisation” and said it was key to breaking cycles of poverty and preparing young people for leadership. He called for schools to cultivate innovators and decision-makers, stressing that young people must be included in governance and business at an earlier stage.
The summit, organised by the monarch’s Education Committee, aims to strengthen literacy and human capital development across Ogbomosoland.
