Agricultural Economists Hold 25th NAAE Conference in Zaria

Agricultural economists from across Nigeria have converged in Zaria for the 25th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists (NAAE), tagged “ABU 2025”. The event, held at the National Institute for Transport Technology (NITT), centred on the theme “Rethinking Nigerian Agricultural Systems Through Innovation, ICT and Food Systems.” It brought together academics, industry leaders, and policymakers to explore new strategies for transforming Nigeria’s agricultural landscape. Declaring the conference open, Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Prof Adamu Ahmed, represented by Prof S.B. Abdu, urged participants to develop practical solutions to strengthen the agricultural value chain.NAAE President, Prof C.C. Eze, described the conference as a “practical lab” for actionable innovations, stressing that technology and policy alignment were key to agricultural reform.Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani, represented by Murtala Dabo and Katsina State Governor, Dr Umar Dikko Radda, reaffirmed their governments’ commitment to agricultural development through infrastructure, empowerment and research collaborations.The conference featured keynote addresses, technical sessions and the conferment of fellowships and awards on distinguished participants.
