IBBU Seals New Global Grant for CL4STEM Project

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, has received a fresh international grant to expand the Connected Learning for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (CL4STEM) project.Speaking at the flag-off of the consolidation phase, Prof Mohammed Salihu Niworu, representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, said IBBU’s strong performance in earlier phases earned global commendation from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and its partners.He noted that the new phase would mainstream the CL4STEM curriculum into teacher training programmes and strengthen in-service development across Niger and other states.Project Lead, Prof Tarjurdeen Mustapha, explained that the initiative, funded by IDRC under the Global Partnership for Education’s Knowledge and Innovation Exchange, has built the capacity of STEM teachers in Nigeria, Bhutan, Tanzania and India since 2021.He said the new grant would consolidate digital learning integration, mentor pre-service teachers virtually and foster collaboration with the Niger State Teachers’ Development Institute.The institution’s Registrar, Alhaji Idris Saleh Kusherki, promised the university’s commitment to sustaining the project’s success and promoting innovation-driven teacher education.
