The Governing Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, has announced the appointment of Prof Ebunoluwa Oduwole as the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor.
Oduwole, who becomes the first female Vice-Chancellor of the university, succeeds Prof Timothy Adebayo, whose five-year tenure ends this month. The appointment was unveiled on Wednesday during the council’s meeting, followed by a ceremony celebrating Adebayo’s service.
Council Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, Dr Olutoyin Okeowo, commended Adebayo’s leadership, describing him as an exceptional administrator who steered the university to growth despite Nigeria’s economic challenges. He noted that external audit reports reflected steady development during his tenure.
“Between 2020 and now, the university has witnessed tremendous growth. Prof Adebayo ensured yearly progress even when the economy was unstable. This is highly commendable,” Okeowo said.
He also praised the contributions of management and staff, stressing that Adebayo’s success was achieved through teamwork. “A tree does not make a forest. The achievements of the past five years were possible because of a dedicated team,” he added.
