Governor Hyacinth Alia has appointed Terna Francis as the pioneer Executive Secretary of the newly established Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examinations Board.
The appointment, announced Tuesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, takes immediate effect.
Francis previously served as the Director-General of the Bureau for Education Quality Assurance. His new role follows the merger of the Bureau with the defunct Benue State Examinations Board, as approved by the Benue State House of Assembly.
Governor Alia stated that the merger was a strategic move to strengthen the education sector and ensure that Benue children receive comprehensive and competitive learning opportunities. He charged Francis to apply his experience and integrity in reforming the state’s education quality assurance system, adding that education remains a top priority of his administration.
According to Alia, the board will catalyse improvements in discipline, assessment standards, and overall academic excellence across Benue State’s schools.
