The Association of Nigerian Universities Alumni (ANUA) has appealed to the Federal Government to act quickly and prevent another round of strikes in the nation’s universities.
The call was made at the group’s Special Bi-Annual Delegates Conference held at Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi State, where delegates from 36 member associations across Nigeria gathered to discuss challenges in higher education.
ANUA’s National President, Professor Yakubu Ochefu, said the government must urgently engage with university-based unions to resolve outstanding issues and maintain peace on campuses.
He warned that another strike would seriously disrupt Nigeria’s academic calendar and further damage the already struggling education system.
In a statement issued by the association’s spokesman, Mallam Sulehiun Maccido, ANUA urged both parties to prioritise dialogue, honour agreements, and find lasting solutions to the problems facing universities, stressing that educational stability is vital for national development.
