The Amuwo Odofin Lawyers Forum (AOLF) has urged lawyers to continue professional training beyond law school to meet the changing demands of the legal profession.
Speaking at the forum’s first anniversary in Lagos, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr Peter Adekoya, said regular, structured, and intensive training would improve lawyers’ performance. He revealed that the forum, with over 300 members, plans to introduce periodic training sessions and set up a branch library with legal resources. Technology will also be integrated to enhance learning.
Adekoya called for joint efforts and legal backing to make continuous training effective. He pledged, along with other senior lawyers, to donate books from their chambers to support members’ development. The forum also aims to become a branch of the Nigerian Bar Association to strengthen its capacity-building initiatives for lawyers in the area.
