The Parkinson’s Foundation has announced the opening of applications for its 2025 Postdoctoral Fellowships, designed to support early-career scientists pursuing research into Parkinson’s disease.
The two-year programme is open to Basic Scientists within five years of earning a PhD and Clinical Neurologists within three years of completing residency.
The initiative aims to equip young researchers with the training and mentorship needed to establish independent careers in Parkinson’s research. Successful applicants will receive $140,000 over two years if applying as Basic Scientists, covering $65,000 in annual salary support and a $5,000 yearly research allowance.
Clinical Neurologists will be awarded $160,000 over two years, including $75,000 annually for salary and $5,000 for research expenses. The allowance may be used for training, books, travel, or health insurance premiums, subject to mentor approval.
Applicants must propose projects that directly advance understanding or treatment of Parkinson’s disease and identify a research mentor who will oversee their work.
Proposals from underrepresented groups in science are strongly encouraged, and only one fellowship per laboratory and institution will be awarded each year.
The application process involves submitting a Letter of Intent; shortlisted candidates are then invited to provide full proposals. Awards are determined through internal and external peer review based on scientific merit, impact, and alignment with the Foundation’s mission.
Funding begins on August 1, 2026, and runs through July 31, 2028. The application deadline is October 22, 2025, with results to be announced in June 2026.
