The American University of Nigeria (AUN) has appointed four distinguished international figures to its Governing Council, strengthening the University’s global outlook and governance.
The new members—Mr. Saheed Johnson, Ambassador Professor Muhammadou M.O. Kah, Mr Brian Deaver, and Professor Abass Aderemi Adedibu bring expertise in corporate strategy, diplomacy, healthcare, and higher education administration.
Senator Ben Obi, Chairman of AUN’s Board of Trustees, said the appointments reflect the University’s commitment to world-class leadership. “Their collective experience will support our strategy for global partnerships, academic innovation, and sustainable growth,” he added.
Mr Johnson, a chemical engineer and corporate executive, has led major multinational firms, including Procter & Gamble and UAC of Nigeria. Ambassador Professor Kah, currently The Gambia’s Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, brings deep experience in diplomacy and international policy. Mr Deaver, CEO of the African Medical Centre of Excellence in Abuja, is a veteran healthcare executive, while Professor Adedibu, a decorated scholar and administrator, brings decades of academic leadership experience.
AUN President Dr DeWayne P. Frazier welcomed the appointments, noting that the new council members’ international experience will be crucial in advancing initiatives in digital learning, community development, and institutional growth.
The appointments reinforce AUN’s commitment to delivering transformative education and expanding its global footprint.
