AUN Marks 17th Founder’s Day with Major Projects

American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, celebrated its 17th Founder’s Day and 20th anniversary

The American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, celebrated its 17th Founder’s Day and 20th anniversary with initiatives highlighting student welfare, innovation, and sustainability.

The event, coinciding with the birthday of Founder and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, drew dignitaries and well-wishers.
AUN announced the construction of two new student hostels, in partnership with an Abuja-based property firm, set for completion by September 2026, to accommodate its growing enrolment.

A state-of-the-art synthetic 5-a-side football pitch, donated by Jaiz Bank, was also commissioned to support the Student Entrepreneurship Hub.

A key highlight was the unveiling of AUN’s renewable energy project, which achieved full energy autonomy and advanced the university’s sustainability agenda.

President Prof. DeWayne Frazier noted that these initiatives reflect AUN’s commitment to fostering creativity, innovation and resilience among students.

He praised Founder Atiku Abubakar’s vision, describing the projects as a tribute to his dedication to education and development in Nigeria’s Northeast.

“Together, we have built an institution that is a source of pride and a force for good. Here is to 20 years of excellence, and to shaping the future,” Frazier said.
