AUN Unveils Hostels, Energy Autonomy at Founder’s Day

DeWayne Frazie, President, American University of Nigeria (AUN)

The American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, marked its 17th Founder’s Day and 20th anniversary with new investments in student housing, infrastructure and sustainability.

AUN announced the construction of two additional student hostels to address rising enrolment. President DeWayne Frazier said the expansion is backed by an MoU with an Abuja-based developer, with the first phase of luxury student housing slated for completion by September 2026.

The event also featured the commissioning of a synthetic 5-a-side football pitch donated by Jaiz Bank. The pitch is part of AUN’s Student Entrepreneurship Hub, which aims to strengthen student engagement and innovation.

A major highlight was the unveiling of AUN’s renewable energy project, which has secured the university’s full energy autonomy. Frazier said the milestone reinforces AUN’s commitment to sustainability and positions it as a leader among Nigeria’s private universities.

He praised Founder Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for his sustained support, noting his role in advancing education and development in the Northeast.
Frazier urged the community to continue driving innovation and excellence as AUN builds on two decades of growth, research and leadership development.
